The total appropriation ap-propriation for the coming year will amount to $490,512. There are at present thirty-seven schools and seminaries in the church system. The schools average an enrollment enroll-ment of 9000 pupils and the seminaries about 4500, making a total of lo.OOO. This increase in teachers' salaries was granted, grant-ed, it is stated by H. It. Cummings, superintendent of church schools, because of the fact that both state and national legislation is tending to increase the salaries sal-aries of instructors in the public schools, and that it is only fair the church schools should do likewise. |
