The roads are to be of concrete construction, for which the state commission will furnish the cement. The second piece of highway is fr.om the present paving at Magna, east on Thirty-third Thirty-third South street to the intersection of the present highway, 4. So miles. Judging from the cost per mile of the contract awarded for similar concrete road several days ago, the new work will come to approximately $o-ir,Q00. Ten per cent of this money, or ?rj4.o00, will have to be paid by r Salt Lake and Utah counties. C. S. Fisher,' bridge engineer for the state road commission, said . yosterday that the two bridges which would be necessary on the new Salt Pjike-Ogdcn highway, which was contracted several days ago, would cost about $oU00. The bridge crossings are near Sunnyside over the irrigation canals of the Davis & Weber County Canal company. The 'present bridges were erected by tho canal company. com-pany. Mr. Fisher said, but it is likely that in the more expensive concrete-constructed bridges the state and the lr- i rigation company will come to an agreement agree-ment as to dividing the cost. It was learned yesterday that the high 7 way work in Utah county under the ! present program would cost the state ! $700,000. It is intended to build about 1 'j7i miles of concrete road in the county, the county's share of which will amount to $70,000. |
