Show DRAGON CON. LEASES PORTION OF MINE Long-time Contract Covers Big Vein for a Distance of About 2500 Feet. Special to The Tribune. EUREKA, July 6. Officers of the Tintic Milling company have succeeded in securing a long-time lease on the northern end of the Dragon Consolidated Consoli-dated mine, this, lease covering that part of the property which adjoins the Iron Blossom, and from which the mine's best grade of ore has been coming com-ing for a number of years. The ground which is to be taken over under the lease covers the vein for a distance of about 2500 feet, and while the transfer trans-fer will be made next Monday, it probably prob-ably will be a few months before that part of the property is completely in the hands of the milling company, for the reason that the Dragon company's force will continue to work in some of the stopes until they are carried up to the levels above. In .this mine the shrinkage system of mining has been in operation, and it is not advisable to move the ore until such time as the work reaches the stage where the ore can be taken out without with-out injury to the workings. Several thousand tons of pre now piled up in the mine will be handled by the company's com-pany's force before some of the stopes are turned over under the terms of the new lease agreement. It is generally understood that the milling company will ship the high-grade high-grade ore to the smelters, the same as the Dragon company has been doing, and taking the lower grade material to their plant at Silver City. The Dragon company will receive a specified sum on each class of ore as a royalty, and the officers of the mining company feel quite sure that the mine's earnings can be increased under this lease agreement. agree-ment. The Dragon Consolidated will continue con-tinue to operate the large iron deposits which are located on the south end of the propertv. This ore is now in demand de-mand by the Utah smelters, being used as a flux. |
