KANSAS CITY. Mo.. Oct. 24. Abandonment of all the October Octo-ber football games in the Missouri Mis-souri Valley conference "has been made necessary by the refusal of Colonel R. J. Rees of the army general staff of the student army training corps to modify the rules concerning the athletics, set forth in the circular of September 26. In a telegram to A. Ross Hill, presi- ful, and there has been soaie talk among coaches and directing authorities authori-ties of attempting to extend the season into the next month. Much will depend on the games with schools outside the conference that can be canceled or reset. With a large percentage of the football foot-ball material at all the valley schools under strict military control and discipline, disci-pline, training and practice routine a3 followed in other years bids to be materially ma-terially upset. The effect of the inoculations inocu-lations rennirftd nf R. A. T. A. T. C, Colonel Rees stated that thee regulations would stand in detail. No commanding officer of the S. A. T. (.'. will be permitted to violate the rules of the war department which forbid out-of-town trips requiring absence . from schools other than Saturday afternoons ! of this month. Therefore, only games 'with schools outside the conference anil : close to the conference points were pos-' pos-' siblc this mouth. j The November schedule will be followed fol-lowed as closely as . possible, according . to Colonel Rees 's talegram. Teams will be allowed to make trips of not more I than forty-eight hours, or from Friday night to "Sunday night. Whether the i November ruling will be followed so I strictly as to necessitate a change in i the plan for the annual Kansas-Missouri game on Thanksgiving is a matter of j conjecture, but Persident Hill is said to be hopeful that the war department :will permit the departure of the team ion a forty-eight hour furlough in the : middle of the week instead of at the j end of the week. If not, the game might have to be played on ihe Satur- day before or after "the Thanksgiving , Thursday. I President Hill favors a complete revision re-vision of the Missouri valley schedule (similar to that already effected in the ' Western conference, whereby every conference con-ference team would meet the other conference con-ference team.
