Show MOTHERS VISIT SICK AT CAMP HOSPITAL CAMP LEWIS', Tacoma, Wash., Oct. 24. Glad to put up with the discomforts of a quarantine to be near their boys who lie ill with influenza and pneumonia in the base hospital here, nearly 100 women are quartered in the Young Women's Christian association hostess house and the Salvation Army rooms. They have come from all over the : Pacific coast and -other states which con- j tribute troops here, on the receipt of telegrams tele-grams to the effect that their boys were ill. Workers In both the Young Women's Christian association and the Salvation army have met the requests for accom- j modations in a spirit which has won them praise from the beneficiaries of their acts and officers and men who have learned of the giving up by them of their comfortable com-fortable quarters that the mothers might stay here. The volunteer nurses have been of invaluable in-valuable assistance to the medical officers offi-cers and nurses on duty in the base hospital hos-pital in coping with the situation. |
