Show BEET SUGAR EXPERTS FOlJSfflTl Propose to Aid in Scientific Culture of Tubers; Headquarters Head-quarters in Salt Lake. The American Association of Sugar Beet Agriculturists, the only orguniza- j tion of its kind in the United States, was i formed In ' Salt Lake during the past week, with Mark Austin of Salt Lake ; president; William J. Hartimg of Man-teca, Man-teca, CaL, vice president, and J. A. Brock, sugar director of the United States food administration, Washington, D. C, secretary and treasurer. The headquarters of the association will be in Salt Lake. The purpose of the organization will be to collect and disseminate data and information in-formation to those who are engaged in scientific sugar beet culture, and its membership mem-bership will be composed largely of agricultural agri-cultural experts in the employ of the various sugar companies, professors of agriculture engaged in sugar beet work, sugar beet experts of the department of agriculture, research workers and those who have contributed scientific literature on sugar beet culture and who are of national reputation. The work of the organization -will he under the direction of Dr. K. S. Harris of the faculty of the Utah Agricultural college and those assisting him, who are ! offering special courses of interest to sugar beet field men. "Facts About Sugar," a publication devoted de-voted to the beet sugar industry, has been named as the official . organ. The next meeting of the association will be held at Logan, during Roundup week, next year, when a number of scientific papers will bo read. i ' |
