The former president, whose operation opera-tion for an abscess a few days ago was made public only last night, after his removal from his Oyster Bay home, rested rest-ed comfortably here during , the past twenty-four hours and it was predicted this morning that he would be out within with-in a few days. Meanwhile he has canceled can-celed speaking engagements in Boston, Des Moines, Milwaukee and Detroit. The abscess developed from a fever which he contracted during the Spanish-American Spanish-American war and, becoming malignant on bis Brazilian journey a few years ago, lias since troubled him at various times.
