Show EAST 10 WEST II HOOP BATTLE TODAY First of Two Scheduled Games for Keen Rivals Arouses Interest. Local hoop fans will be in their glory this afternoon, when the East high will meet I he West high in the first of the two basketball contests which arc played between these two fives each year. The West high gymnasium will be the scene of the battle, and 3:30 has been set as the starting" hour. Since the Salt Lake high school was divided into the Kast and West schools a rivalry lias existed between these two schools which has caused the contests con-tests between them to be fiercely fought from start to finish. In the first two vears the West high showed superiority in basketball, but last year the Leopards came back and won the second game by a score of 41 to 40. The East high students stu-dents think this was the turning point, while the Panthers expect to start their string of victories again. This year the teams appear to be more evenlv matched than ever. Both teams won from Grantsville and lost to Tooele bv somewhat similar scores. On the East high team, with the exception of one, all played last year on either the first or second team, and this gives the Leopards a slight advantage so far as the experience experi-ence department. Ernie Fallentine and Art Leonard are the Panther mainstays, and 'the est high supporters are expecting a great deal from this pair. Glen Anderson will face Fallentine and. as he is the best Leopard, honors will probably be hard fought for by these two. Neil Smith, the small, but speedy, forward, was at work again yesterday at the East high and his work should aid the Leopards. Austin Miller will be the referee and Bobby Richardson the umpire.
