Show FOOLISH BOAST. The Berlin Tageblatt declares that "the German fleet is relieved of anxiety anx-iety and pressure in its rear and can now turn to the west with its full strength." It is true that the kaiser's warships can "turn to the west." They can likewise turn to the east, north or south, but they never will come out of their holes far enough to give the Britisf fleet a chance at them. The United States also has some vessels on the other side of the ocean which tho Germans would be likely to meet should they get out into the open when they "turn to the west." The Tageblatt Tage-blatt is guilty of. making the most idiotic boast since the war began. No sane German naval commander would risk a battle with the British fleet alone. This being so what could the Germans expect to accomplish by going against the combined fleets of the allies? If the readers of the Tageblatt can be fed that kind of stuff without nausea they havo strong stomachs. As a matter of fact the Germans will be lucky if the allied fleets do not discover dis-cover some way to go in after these warships that are now able to "turn to the west." German squadrons have made two or three raids up to the present pres-ent time, but they have always turned tail before the British and if any man expects them to make any better showing show-ing from 'now on he will bo badly fooled. |
