Show WELFARE WORKERS WILL BEJTiCREASED Knights of Columbus Plan to Enlarge Soldiers' Fund Canvass. TEAMS MEET SUCCESS Details of Broader Scope for Drive Subject of Meeting Tonight. Although excellent results were reported report-ed by six teams working for the success of tho Knights of Columtua soldiers' welfare wel-fare fund yesterday, it became evident that ljecaUHO of the comparatively small area. It ia possible for each team to cover, it will be necessary to Increase the size of the organization. To this en.J a plan has been formulated by those taking the Initiative In the work and It will bo dismissed dis-missed at a meeting at the Commercial club tonight, which will be attended by all who have heen enlisted for the drive. ''ha t. all classes and all people may he reached, the plan which resulted In such nuccesf. riming tho Red Cross campaign will he adopted. The. canvass will be systematic. a.nd every effort exerted. Assignments Tonight. At the meeting tonight assignmeuta will be made, and, although (here will lie no Interruption in the work today, a more systematic, method of reaching the public will be In effect tomorrow. The city will be covered thoroughly by a sufficient suf-ficient number of loams to bring the de-Hired de-Hired results In tho shortest possible time, nnd there Is every reason to believe that the slate's quota of $25,000 for the Knights of Columbus fund will be more than raised. There has heen some misunderstanding as to tho status of the Young Men's Christian association, the Knights of Columbus Co-lumbus and the Young Men's Hebrew association as-sociation within tho camps, and the reason rea-son for their being there. The admission admis-sion of both the Young Men's Christian association and the Knights of Columbus Colum-bus to military reservations was upon the express conditions, first, that they would not limit their activities to any particular constituency, and, second, that their buildings should be open at all timos for all meetings. Misunderstanding Corrected. Just as the-Young Men's Christian association as-sociation represents the Protestant denominations, de-nominations, which will constitute, roughly speaking, 60 per cent of the new armv, in like manner the Knights of Columbus Co-lumbus represent the Catholic denomination, denomi-nation, which will probably constitute 'io per cent. While the Knights of Columbus Colum-bus Is a fraternal organization, it will sustain exactly the. same relations to the camp as is sustained by the Young Men's Christian association, and will hold no meetings to" which all of tho troops in camp are not invited, regardless of religion re-ligion or other preference. |
