Plans Perfected at Enthusiastic Enthusi-astic Banquet; Committee Captains Are Cho$en. COMPLETE success of the membership member-ship campaign, to place the Salt Lake Commercial club on a more substantial basis than ever before in its history, was assured last night at a dinner at the club at which the board of governors met with the special spe-cial membership committee. The membership member-ship drive will begin next Tuesday, the goal being 1200 member?. Captains of twenty-five committees were appointed to conduct the campaign during the four days of its continuance, and each committee is expected to bring twenty-five new members into the club. Marked enthusiasm was displayed at the dinner, intensified by an address by President F. C. Richmond, who outlined the possibilities of the organization and the power it may exert in the state and community. Mr. Riclmiond reviewed the accomplishments accomplish-ments of tho cluh during the past two years in practically eliminating a heavy Indebtedness and reaching a point where increased membership and consequent stronger financial position will place it in a position to perform its broader function of better service to the business men of the city and state and to occupy an ever-increasing ever-increasing important position in war activities ac-tivities and city and state development. Mr. Richmond's Address. "There is practically nothing that the club cannot accomplish in Salt Lake," said Mr. Richmond, "and a great responsibility, respon-sibility, which at the same time is a privilege, priv-ilege, rests on . the membership committee. commit-tee. The board of governors, with the aid of the loyal 600 members, has protected pro-tected the credit of the club and placed it on a recognized footing in the business and financial world. With double the present membership the club will be In a position to accomplish anything which it deems to be the bst interest of the city and state. The board of governors is happy in the fact that it has brought the club "to a point where its future may be assured." The financial interests of the city are behind anything the club may set out to perform, said Mr. Richmond, a condition which is far different to that which existed ex-isted before the present board of managers man-agers assumed control, and those who now lend their support are the men who will not only protect their own business interests, but the interests of the state. Ready With Support. Since the announcement that the membership was to be increased. ifr. Richmond said, many of the most prominent promi-nent and influential men of the city, not heretofore members and who had entirely entire-ly given up club matters, had rallied to the support of the organization and had expressed pleasure in having the opportunity oppor-tunity of aiding in the building up of the club that It may become a more powerful factor in the ctty and state fabric.
