Case scored in the opening period when brilliant bril-liant open I'ield running- by Hale and a forward pass, Hale to Wolfe, piaced the -ball on Notre Darne's two-yard line. Captain Cap-tain McCune plunged over. Vanderhoof . filled goal. Coach Rockne immediately pulled two members of his backfield and sent in , Balian and Gfpps, veterans of the 1917 eleven. Their presence was immediately in evidence. They did practically all of1 - Notre Dame's offensive work and shortly after the second period opened Lambeau crashed through for a score. Gipps misled qoal and the score was even. No further scoring' came in the second quarter, but in the third Notre Dame got g-ohig- and with Gipps in the stellar role, ripped through the Case defense for two more touchdowns.
