Show SUCCESS US LDilMPH Cities and Communities Throughout Nation Early-Report Early-Report Allotments. WASHINGTON, , Sept. 2S. Messages from ail sections of the Untted States reached the treasury department today aJmost simultaneously with the opening of Uie campaign for the fourth Liberty bond, telling of villages, towns and cities which had within a few hours subscribed sub-scribed their quotas of the $6,000,000,000 total. The first report came from the territory terri-tory of Alaska. A message reached the treasury soon after Secretary McAdoo arrived ar-rived at his desk saying that the Alaska Packers' association of San Francisco, with a subscription of $1,370,000 had completed com-pleted the entire loan allotment for every town, village and fishing camp in the territory- A telegram received from Juneau Jun-eau tonight, however, said "All communities com-munities are ambitious to more than double their allotments." Parades and other patriotic demonstrations demonstra-tions marked the opening of the campaign cam-paign throughout the nation, while news from the war fronts In Europe, particularly particu-larly from the sectors where American troops were driving forward added to the impetus of the first day's campaign. While reports were reecived from scores of communities reporting oversubscription oversubscrip-tion of allotments on the Initial day of the great campaign, it was pointed out that the speedy and effective organization in smaller places which served to complete the alloted task so quickly had not brought in sums which will bulk largely when compared with the S6.0y0.000.000 total. The treasury in a statement tonight to-night said that the selling stride would scarcely be struck over the entire country coun-try before r.toct week. "It will be Impobsible to predict before that time whether the campaign has started successfully," the statement said. "The most, encouraging note of all in today's reports ia that all communities realize that the country' has before it an enormous task in the raising of $6,000,000,-000. $6,000,000,-000. The consensus of opinion appears to be that overconfidence is the greatest danger to be guarded attains t until the lonn actually is subscribed."
