Show NO AMNESTY. There is said to be a large colony of slackers in Buenos Aires. These men succeeded in escaping from the United States .before they could be drafted under the selective service law. Thev have been supplied with funds by relatives rela-tives in thiB country, and have saved their cowardly hides while better and braver voung men have fought valiant-j valiant-j ly. The names of these miscreants ! should be obtained without delay and indictments should be returned against-them. against-them. Their offense is not extraditable, but if they ever return to this country they should bo prosecuted, imprisoned j f or a term of years and lose their Amer-j Amer-j ican citizenship. A man who will not (fight for his country has no right to vote. The fact that the war is over j does not mitigate the offense committed commit-ted by draft evaders, and there Bhould be no thought of amnesty in such cases. They are just as bad as deserters in time of war who are subject to the i death penalty. There are probably j , other colonies of cowards in South' I America, and it is known that Mexico j has harbored hundreds, if not thousauds, !of draft dodgers during tho last eighteen eight-een months, and it may be that some ! of the undesirables who sought refuge I in the latter country may try to sneak ove:' the border soon. CIoso watch : should be kept for them, and they should be promptly arrested as soon as J they set foot on American soil. If ; 1 such a thing is possible, pome action j .should be T;i!;en i". the cae of the uu-I patriotic individuals who supplied funds ' for use of their .'raven relatives. j |
