Show BOCHE SOLDIERS URGED COMRADES TO FIGHT NO MORE PARIS,, Nov. IP. (Havas.) Demonstrations Demon-strations by the German soldiers In Brussels Brus-sels on Sunday, November KT, the day before be-fore the armistice with Germany was signed, are described In the Journal la Belglque, a newajmper published in Brussels Brus-sels for four years under control of the German censorship, in its Issue of November No-vember 11. Thousands of soldiers without arms gathered in front of the North station and formed a procession which marched through the North boulevard, carrying red and French flags. Tlje populace, at first dumb with astonishment at the strange sight, enthusiastically cheered the soldiers carrying the French trl-color and shouting "Hurrah for Belgium!" "Hurrah for France!" The procession halted at the palace of Justice, where a meeting was organized and a banner raised on which was inscribed: "Comrades! Do not fight any, more! Do not shoot!" A Belgian demonstration was then organized or-ganized in which the Germans joined with the Belgians in singing the Brabanconne and the Marseillaise.' An automobile truck, carrying German marines and decorated with Belgian flags appeared on the Grand place, where one of the marines ma-rines spoke in praise of the Belgian king and his people. An automobile in which were some German Ger-man superior officers was halted by soldiers sol-diers who tore t he epaulettes from the officers' shoulders. The demonstration continued throughout the afternoon and evening. |
