Chairman James "v. CoUins of the state war savings committee yestetday announced an-nounced the appointment of members of the city committee as chairmen of a number of subcommittees which will cooperate co-operate with the state commllee and county committees in the carrying- on of the thrift campaign thrcughout the state of Utah. At the same time "Mr. Collins sent circular cir-cular letters to the county chairmen of ihe state asking them to name county iommitteeB of the same nature as those to be presided over by the chairmen named by him yesterday and which will co-operate with these chairmen in their work throughout the slate. That the war savings and thrift campaign cam-paign might bo properly furthered among the employees of the Utah Copper company com-pany and the American Smelting & Refining Re-fining company at Garfield and Magna and those districts, a special committee lias been named bv John-M. Hayes and J. M. Bldwell to look after the work among the men of their respective institutions. insti-tutions. The committee is composed of P wight Mateer. O. W. Komorow, G. W. Palmer, M. H. Kirk, H. A. Cowan and R, S. Saum. Tho commiltee made a sppclal trip to the city yesterday afternoon and conferred con-ferred with Mr. Collins in relation to the work to be done by it. Stamps of both the war savings and the thrift variety were placed on sale at the banks in Garfield Gar-field and Magna yesterday. Plans have been prepared for a meeting meet-ing of all the school children of Salt Lake next Wednesday in their respective; sehoolhousea to hear speakers explain the, war savings and thrift campaign. Chairman Chair-man John S. Crilchlow of the committee in charge of this work will name the list of speakers as soon as possible. It Is proposed to organize and operate war savings societies throughout the state and it Is anticipated that these will prove highly effective. War Saving Societies.
