To gladden the ''Sammies'" hearts in this section will cost the society an enormous sum, nearly $70,000, but Mr. Martin says that it is worth it and more. The packets -which the men will receive, re-ceive, will not consist of useless articles ar-ticles which the men will soon dispose of. The contents will include things which are extremely timely in view of the probable early overseas movement. Every article, may be put to some important- use in the months to come. Just what these things are is at. present pres-ent kept secret, as is the case with all Christmas presents. Each packet will contain approximately approxi-mately $- worth of presents, and when it is taken in consideration that there are nearly 4n,tni0 soldiers, sailors and marines in this section of the country it rapidly bounds to a snug sum in money.
