Show 1847 PIONEER DIES AT PLEASANT GROVE PLEASANT GROVE, Deo. 12. Largely attended funeral services were held here yesterday for Jacob Foulz. 73 years of age. who was one of the few remaining pioneers of October, 1S47. Mr. Foutz passed away Sunday. Bishop S. L. Swen-sen Swen-sen presided at the services, and other speakers were Joseph W. Thome, Ezra Walker. W. L. Hayes and Alexander Bullock. Mr. Foutz was born at Nauvoo, 111., and came to Utah with his parents when he i was 3 years of age. He had resided in ! this city continuously for sixty-seven i years. He was married in 1S64 to Sarah Thome, who died about three years atro. ! Mr. Foutz was prominent in" the earlv Indian wars in Utah and also held manv positions of trust. He was marshal of Pleasant Grove for fourteen years, was president of the elders' quorum for a long period and also was a member of the seventies' and high priests' quorum. In addition to two sisters Mrs. Catherine Cath-erine White. years nf age. who also arrived in Utah on October 1. 1 SIT. and Mrs. Miranda Bacon, who w;is burn three days after the arrival of the familv in Urn h Mr. Foutz is survived bv the'ful-Inwinff the'ful-Inwinff sons and daughters: Fred, Earl and Herbert Foutz or" Pleasant: Grove, David Da-vid Foutz of Silver "Mty and Georcc T.
