Show VILLA PURCHASES BIG SUGAR CONCERN All Assets of Montana-Utah Company Bought by Local Mining Man. At a meeting of -the stockholders of the Montana-Utah Sujrar company yesterday yes-terday afternoon all of the assets of the corporation were sold to Krnest Ti. Woolley, local mining man, who, during dur-ing the past year, has become heavily interested in various sugar properties both in this country and in Panama. Mr. YVoolley last night confirmed the sale, but beyond stating that the factory fac-tory of the company at Hamilton, Mont,, would be rushed to immediate completion, said that further plans would be announced later. Mr. Wool-ley Wool-ley declared that further steps of vital interest in the sugar industry might be expected in the near future. The Montana-Utah Sugar company is a Utah corporation with large interests inter-ests in the Bitter Root valley, Mont. This riidi anil fertile valley is the same in which Marcus Daly had his famous stockfarin. The company has a factory now about one-third completed, but which will be in active operation for the next crop. Beets grown in the alley al-ley this year show a content of from 17 to 18" per cent saccharine and the farms are said by sugar experts to rank with the most fertile in the country coun-try for sugar beet production. The new plant when completed will have a capacity of 500 tons of beets per day. The directors of the corporation on December 1 authorized the sale of the company to Mr. Woolley and the meeting meet-ing yes'terdav was confirmatory of the art. of the officials. Former Governor William Spry is the president of the company and he, with Fred Elggren, George Saunders, 0. ('. Beebe and George G. Knox of Salt Lake, K. P. Ellison of Layton and .lames L.
