Show MINE 1H IN VITAL CONFERENCE At a meeting of nearly all of the mine managers of the Alta properties of the Alta district, held yesterday afternoon in the offices of the South Hecla Mining company, the question of transportation was discussed at great length. Nearly every property of the district was represented, repre-sented, including the South Hecla, Emma Copper, Wasatch Mines, Alta Consolidated, Consoli-dated, the Sells and the Michigan-Utah. Norman W. Halre, president and general gen-eral manager of the Michigan-Utah, said after adjournment that it was virtually an indignation meeting because of the conviction that the railroads had not prepared pre-pared themselves to handle the large amount of ore that will be shipped from the Alta district during the summer and the subsequent years. He said that repeated re-peated promises had been made by the t. & R. G. to rehabilitate the tracks of the Salt Lake & Alta road to make it equal to the task that must be imposed during the summer, but that the promises prom-ises had not been kept and that many of the mine managers had already made arrangements ar-rangements for the purchase of tractors to haul their ores from Wasatch to the smelters. Mr. Haire said that the main trouble was the fact that the steel rails used are too light and that heavier rails must be used to enable the road to handle the traffic. Boston Copper Quotations. J. A.
