Mr. .Swanson Th purchased two locomotives and en-. en-. ,:.!ged the -services of two engineers, one J'om the Denver & Rio Grande railroad 'J-'. the other from the Oregon Short Line. .Vfhese men will start their engines along i!ie steel track which is now being laid fi.nd after they gain full headway the men 'v'!Il be expected to jump for safety. In addition there is to be a series of I f'u to mobile races, one being a stripped I -wcar f 1-fce-for-al fr local dealers. A motor-1 motor-1 j; cycle will be sent over the mile route in ,V' npetition with a horse running a cjuar-jt' cjuar-jt' of a mile from the three-quarter pole. -A fat man's Ford race is expected to be " one of the humorous features. It is open j to all fat men, weight 200 pounds or over. The rules require the entrants to run 100 yards, cranio tiieir own cars and then race eight miles. Arrangements are being made for special spe-cial rates on the railroads, and it is expected ex-pected that from some points special trains will be run to the fair grounds. Seating arrangements for 20,000 persons are being made. |
