Child Con-tracts Con-tracts Cold Which Develops De-velops Into Pneumonia. Mrs. Isabel A. Child, wife of E. N. Child and one of the oldest and most widely known residents of the Eleventh ward of Salt Lake, died yesterday at the family home, 829 Menlo avenue. Death was due to pneumonia which developed from a cold. Only about a week ago, Mrs. Child's aged mother died after a lingering illness during which her daughter was a constant attendant upon her. Following the funeral of the aged mother Mrs. Child developed a cold and her strength was insufficient to ward off the pneumonia which developed very rapidly and in a most acute form. Even.' thing that medical science could do was done for the patient, hut the virulence of the malady could not be overcome over-come and death ensued at an early hour yesterday morning. All of the members of the fajnily were present when the end came, with the exception of her son, William, who was not able to reach l er bedside in time. Mrs. Child had been resident of the Eleventh ward' for forty-seven years. She was born just out of Newcastle-on-Tyne, England, on February 2S, 1S56. She came to Utah with her parents in I860, when but 4 years of age. The family established their home in the Eleventh ward in Salt Lake, and Mrs. Child has resided there ever since. She was one of the best known and most beloved women in the ward and leaves a large family and many friends to mourn her loss. She is survived by her husband, E. N. Child, and the following fol-lowing children: Martha J. Child, E. A. Child, Elizabeth Child. Byron Child, Harry Child, William Child, Margaret Child and Mrs. W. B. Maughan, all of this city. She is also survived by a brother and sister and four grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at the Eleventh ward chapel Thursday at 2 p. m. The body may be viewed at the family residence, 829 Meido avenue, from 12 noon until 1 :30 p. m. pn the day of the funeral. |
