Show AGE LIMIT. ! A f ter th ree and a half yers of strenuous warfare the French govern-. ment has made the discovery that many j of the officers in command of regi- 1 meats, brigades and divisions at the ' front are too old to render the most efficient ef-ficient service and they are to be replaced re-placed with younger men. These old : veterans of many a hard-fought cam- ; paigu will not be forced out of the ; war department. The weeding out 1 process began in this country some weeks ago, but it is very probable j that some of the older officers who j succeed in passing the physical test and go to France- will be sent home again after a short trial on the battle front. But, as we stated the other day, such officers are capable of doing the very best of work at the training camps, and they should be given the opportunity oppor-tunity to help win the war in this manner. man-ner. France has no great training camps, her men being trained in war from their youth up, but it is fair to presume that some use will be found for the officers disqualified by age from holding commands either at the front of in the rear. |
