Show COUNTY MAY IKE EXHIBIT ALLOWANCE Rewording of tbeir request by the Salt Princofs carnival committee for an appropriation of 1S0OO from tho county niav result in getting the money. In a letter laid before tho county commissioners yesterday morning the committee explained that tho money was desired for the installation of an exhibit of Salt Lake county products at the carnival grounds. The first request for the appropna tion was refused by the county commis sioners on the advice of County Attor nev H. L. Mulliner that the statute provided for appropriations only in cas of exhibition of county products. Action Ac-tion on the new request was deferred pending another opinion from the county coun-ty attorney. ' Given yesterdav afternoon, the opinion opin-ion was to the effect that it is within the power of the county commissioners to make the appropriation for the pur pose specified in the last appeal, should they see fit to do so. ''The stipulated purpose of the np propriation asked is in line with the letter of the law," said the county attorney. at-torney. "Whether or not the spirit ot it is equally in conformity I shall have to leave to' the judgment of the county commissioners." |
