Show SHIPPERS WOULD PUT OFF EFFECT OF LAW NEW YORK, Aug. 7. New York shippers ship-pers plan to ask the interstate commerce commission to defer for four months the date when the proposed higher trancon-tinental trancon-tinental freight tariffs tiled by the rall- i roads shall go into effect, it was an- : nounced here today. The date now fixed ; is September 1. Moanwhile the commission is to hold a hearing in Washington on August 14 to consider protests against the tariffs which would be operative between Pacific Pa-cific coast terminals and intermediate points on one hand and eastern points on , the other. It is said that more than 600 protests have been filed. |
