Show OSTERMANH IS HERE DHSPECfflllP Field Secretary of the Lincoln Lin-coln Highway Is Making Tour of Route. H. C. Ostermann, field secretary of the Lincoln Highway association, is a visitor in Salt Lake. Mr. Ostermann arrived in the city over the Lincoln Highway and will depart in a day or ?o for the coast, also over the Lincoln Highway. Mr. Ostermann is on one of his regular trips from coast to coast inspecting the Lincoln Highway, gathering gather-ing data for future work, and doing all in his power to rush improvement work on the great national automobile route across the country. Mr. Ostermann expressed himself as being well satisfied with the work Utah is doing on the Lincoln Highway. He was much impressed with the work ndv going on in Echo canyon and declared that from the extent of road improvements improve-ments going on there it should be a boulevard by next year. He also noted the good work that has been done in Parley's canyon since he passed though there" a year ago and hopes to see the time in the near future when a well graded road, wide enough for cars to pass, will extend from one end of the can von to the other. Mr. Ostermann experienced no trouble whatever ,ou this trip west and declares the worst sections of the Lincoln Highway High-way are where road gangs are busy building new roads. This the tourist must put up with until the great road is finally finished, he says. Mr. Ostermann said that Mr. Henry B. Joy, president of the Lincoln Highway, High-way, would be in Salt Lake in a lew days and that he thought is was Mr. Joy's intention to make the trip to the Grand Canyon with the Tribune party in August. |
