Show CONDITION OF BOXER SLIGHTLY IMPROVED Jimuiie Johns Remains in Serious j Plight and Chances for Recovery j Are Still Doubtful. I Special to The Tribune. OGDEN, July 17. According to reports from the Dee hospital late this afternoon, slight improvement was noted in the condition con-dition of Jimmie Johns, the Ogden boxer ; who was shot and seriously wounded by City Marshal Horace Van Fleet at Lagoon last Saturday night. Johns is still in a serious condition, however, and the nature na-ture of his wounds is such that death may result after several days or a week. As a sequel to the fight which led up to the shooting, Earl Maxwell of this city was fined $15 and Wilford Collie, also of Ogden, was fined $50 in the jus-1 jus-1 tice court at Farmington this morning. Both were charged with disturbing the peace. It is said that Sheriff K. O. Reading Read-ing attempted to arrest both Maxwell and Collie when the latter jerked loose from the officer. Maxwell was being taken out of the park by the sheriff when he attacked the officer. Collie is said to have been assisting Maxwell in the attack, when City Marshal Van Fleet took part and later fired on Johns when somebody struck him with a brick. |
