Show PINGREE BUYS BIG CALIFORNIA FACTORY Sugar Plant at Corcoran Becomes the Property of Utah Financier and Associates. Special to The Tribune. LOS AXGKLES, July 1 7, Announcement Announce-ment was made tonight by E. E. Bush of Hanford that the Corcoran sugar plant at Corcoran. Kings county, has been sold to James Filigree of Ogden, Utah, for $'200,-000. $'200,-000. The deal was consummated following follow-ing a conference between Mr. Pingree. who is one of the heaviest stockholders in the sugar plant at Visalia, Cal., and a committee of bondholders of Die Corcoran Cor-coran plant, including Mr. Rush, Henry Zeitt of San Diego and George Hanna of this city. Associated with Mr. Pingree in the purchase is A. E. Nickerson of San Francisco, also a heavy stockholder in the Visalia plant. The Corcoran plant was constructed in 190$ and cost approximately $1,000,000. For the past six years it has not been in operation because of financial difficul- 1 ties. The bonds of the plant were held bv about thirty men, whoso interests I have been in the hands of the Title Insurance In-surance & Trust company of this city. |
