This was his first visit to Salt Lake, and ho expressed his pleasure nt tho many attractions of the city. lr. .Johnston was partirulnrlv impressed with tho oryan recital at the tabernacle and with Salt air, which ho visited in the afternoon. after-noon. Tho Japanese, said Mr. Johnston, are adopt in; American ways and manners more everv year. The mission house where Dr. Johnston has boon stationed for tho past six years is called Sandnmat u by the natives, or "House of tho Pines.'' It is situated on the outskirts of the little village of Kitanocho. at the foot of the mountains. The climate is delightful de-lightful there, and tho surrounding country very beautiful, according to lr. Johnston. |
