The r'jfirst game went to the home club 5 to 1 rriand the second was cashed in at 8 to 7. The deciding tally in the second con- test did not show until the tenth in- ning. There was a big crowd down at Mastic Ma-stic park to see the bargain day offer-j. offer-j. And the fans sure got their yloney's worth in that second battle. Che score was thrice tied before the issue was determined. The excitement reached its height when Bunny Brief cracked the ball over the fence in the ninth inning, ty- 1 iug the score. Bunny gatherod unto f himself several kinds of coin for his E paius. f Dutch a Winner. l It was Dutch Klawitter's dav to win, gfor Dutch always wins on Saturday. fjThe finish yesterday, while not quite jas spectacular as tho finish the preced-jing preced-jing featurday, when Dutch won the game from Los Angeles with a homer in the j ninth, was plenty spectacular. Bill Steen can i-Wrgo the game up 3 to his own strength of arm, for it was jj Hill 's mighty heave into the bleachers that put Tom Downey over with the winning run in tho tenth. 1 Prior to tho finish there was a lot of wild-eyed ball playing. The Saints 5 did not support Klawitter worth a cent, iand practically all of the runs the Seals 1 got after Salt Lake took a lead in the 3 Birth were directly due to errors. ,i The game started in a spectacular 3 fashion with Ping Bodie knocking the jj ball over the fence in the first inning 3 with ono on. The spoctacularity con-'i con-'i tinued in the second, when Skeeter Fan-jj Fan-jj niug also knocked a homer. Skeet's A blow almost caused the death of several 3 hundred spectators through heart fail-!j fail-!j ure. jPaul Master in First. j Fittery had things his own way in tho first game, while Oldham lost his j gamo with a wild heave and a wild j pitch. The two runs thus given Salt j Lake proved enough to win, although tho Saints got three earned runs in ad-a ad-a fution, just to show that they could do 'j The Seals were helpless before Paul. hev bunched two of their three hits 'i the third inning for their only score. I Klawitter had a good deal of trouble, but it was almost invaria.bly due to his support or lack of it that put him in the hole. In the third inning of the opener Oldham Old-ham singled and was forced by Autrey. Schaller's out put Autrey on second and he scored of Bodie 's double. Saints Win in Third. Salt Lake won tho game in their half of the third. Vann . singled and Fittery Fit-tery hit a sacrifice bunt to Oldham, who flung wild to first, Vann scoring and Fittery going to third. He scored on a wild- pitch. In the sixth a single by Guigni, a double by Vann and a single by Fittery Fit-tery gave the locals two. A double by Downey and a single by Vann counted the fifth for the Saints in the eighth. Johnny Vann was a bear with the hickory in the" first game, getting four hits in four trips, one a double. The second game opened inauspicious-ly inauspicious-ly for the Saints, for the Seals counted two in the very first inning. With Schaller on first, Bodie knocked it over tho fence.. Fanning 's homer in tho second gave them their third run. Salt Lake also scored one in tha second sec-ond on singles by Orr, Guigni and Hannah. Han-nah. The Seals scored again in the fourth. Downey muffed Jones's popper and Ducky stole second, whence he scored on Sepulveda's stinger. Locals Take Lead. The locals made four in the sixth. Bavlcss led off with a double. Brief walked and Byan's single scored Bay-less. Bay-less. Here Steen relieved Fanning. Orr 's double scored Brief and put Kyan on third, and Downey's long-distance single put Ryan and Orr across. That made the score 5 to 4 for Salt Lake, but the Seals evened it up in the seventh when Guigni missed Bodie 's scooter and Ping scored on Dalton 's hit. Then the visitors proceeded to take some profit, for they made two in the eighth, and it looked as though that old ball game was lost for sure.
