Show GOilli GOOD ilT IE SILVER SHIELD Harry Joseph and Officials of Company Inspect Recent Strike. Conditions at the Silver Shield property, prop-erty, located in the Bingham district, are good, according to Harry S. Joseph, who, accompanied by Henry Cohn, president presi-dent of tho compauy, and l M. Solomon, a director from ew York, inspected the new strike at the property recently. A fifty-ton shipment was sent to t tie smelter smel-ter on Friday, which is expected to run much higher 'in silver values than former shipments. lr. Joseph is of the opinion that the Highland vein has been encountered. encoun-tered. This vein is reputed to have produced pro-duced about $2,000,000 worth of ore in the United States ground, adjoining the property. In discussing the conditions at the property yesterday, Mr. Joseph said: On the east side of the tunnel and on the Highland vein there is exposed ex-posed for a distance of fifteen feet up in the raise and for a distance of thirty feet along the strike an ore body" that will average about two feet in thickness. It is a sulphide lead ore, with the principal values in lead. It also carried about twenty ounces in silver to the ton and there are some gold values. A fifty-ton shipment has been sent to the smelter smel-ter from the new strike. About thirty feet to the west of the tunnel and about 100 feet from what is called the Miracle stope there is a small showing of ore. A raise has been started on this. In the face there is strong mineralization. mineraliza-tion. lu the Miracle stope we are breaking break-ing ore from the north-south fissure. On the bavk vein we have stopped work on account of the poor ventilation. ven-tilation. To obviate this difficulty I am arranging for a Keystone drill and a hole will be sent down from the surface to the tunnel level or to tap some of the old stopes. We expect to install an air line in -tho very near future and do the mining work with machine drills. We nave made no effort to work the ore where the original strike was first made. Recently there was a report to the effect that the ore had pinched out, but an examination disclosed the fact that the ore had faulted from the footwall, where it was being developed, to the hanging wall, where it has been picked up once more and where it is being developed. |
