For four years the citizens of the west side have been protesting tha t at least one member of the city commission shnuid come rrom tne west side. In t he approac hing city primary there will pro bully be some half dozen weft-side weft-side candidates. A. O. Giauque and Emll S. Lund are already avowed candidates for the city commission, and friends of K. G-. 0"Ponnell and Charles Gottreli, Jr.. are circulating petitions ' for these two men. All four aro residents of the west side. Mr. O'Donnell n nd Mr. Uottrell have not yet made formal announcement of their candidacies, but are expected to do so. At first it wfas thought that the west aiders would put only one candidate in the Meld. With this plan in view, the west siders held a mass convention, which nominated Mr. Otauque, who was later indorsed for the place by the West Side Improvement league. However, not all of the west siders were ready to support sup-port Mr. Giauque. A large element of tho laboring men living on the west side indicated a preference "for EFenTy K. Russell, Rus-sell, labor candidate for commissioner. Others, displeased with Mr. GiaiiQue's candidacy, have been urging Mr. O'Donnell O'Don-nell and Mr. Cottrell to enter the contest. |
