Show Insane Chinaman Finds His Tongue Formerly Taciturn, He Becomes Loquacious When He Reaches Mental Hospital. Special to The Tribune. OCfDKN, Sept. 19. How they battled with an insane ina n who attempted to jump from it moving automobile and some interesting discoveries concerning Ye Wing Veck, the mysterious Chinaman, China-man, were related by Deputy Sheriff George Leatham and Police Chauffeur Guy Nejson this morning upon their return re-turn from an auto tri p to the state mental hospital at Prove. The patient, who attempted to escape during the journey, is 8. M. Haven, supposed to be a resident of Sacramento, Cal., who was adjudged insane a few days ago. Soon after the officers had left Murray Mur-ray on their way to Prove- last evening, CHauffeur Nelson discovered Haven in the act oi.' opening the auto door in preparation to jump. The machine was stopped, but Haven put up a Eight, both officers receiving slight injuries. It was found necessary to handcuff the man before the trip could be resumed. The discoveries concerning Yeck, the insane Chinamen, are interesting to Sheriff T. A. DeVine's men. Although he had not walked a step since being brought to the local county jail nearly a month ago, and had to be carried to the auto in a blanket, Yeck stepped from the machine and walked gingerly into the office of Dr. D. H. Calder when the party reached Provo. During bis stav at the county jail the aged , China man had also refused to speak a word to any officer or attendant except.
