Show Clothing Is Found Scattered Over Lot Police Are Working on a Case of a Somewhat Puzzling Character. Who is W. C. Crookston, where is he and why should his clothing1 be found scattered about a vacant lot at 913 East South Temple street yesterday morning? Thi8 is a bit of mystery that is puzzling tho police of Salt Lake. Early yesterday morning a resident of the vicinity telephoned the police telling of the presence of the clothes in the vacant lot. Detective "Reed Billings and Patrolman Ernest Lesser were sent to investigate. They found a suit of clothes, two shirts, several yards of dress goods, a baby's dress and letters and papers. From papers found in the pockets of tho coat the police came to the conclusion that the things found must belong to Crookston and that be was in some way an agent for the La Salle Extension university of Chicago. A letter, apparently from the man 's wife, appeared to have been written from Hyrura, Utah. The man 's name does not appear In either the city or telephone directory, and from the fact that, among the tetters were some received re-ceived evidently at Pocatello and other town5t It is thought that tho man is traveling agent for the correspondence school named. But why his clothing shoould be scattered over the vacant lot is the thing that the police have been unable to figure out unless his grip was stolen by someone who discarded the contents upon discovering their nature. |
