McDermott pet a world's mark of 1:13 2-5 for 100 yards in retaining the 200-yard breast stroke title, and made a new record for the 200 yards of 2.3$ 2-5. clipping- two seconds off his own record. MeGillivray. in defending the 300-yard op en swim title, sot a new ma rk o f 2:.ri0 1-5 for the 250 yards and created one of 3:20 1-5 for tiie 300 yards. The old world's records were 2 :M for 250 and :l:2ii 2-5 for "00, both by J. G. Hatfield of Fngland. The beet previous American mark was 3:52 3-5, by MeGillivray.
