The an mm 1 hano.uct of-officials of the Oregon Short Line Railroad company, held last night at the Alta club, was declared by those in attendance to he the most successful event of its kind over given. All tho local officials were In attendance and several out-of-town officials, including Joel L. Priest, industrial indus-trial agent, with headquarters in Bpise; C. B. Brooks, superintendent of tho Montana Mon-tana division, and A. 15. Stevenson, superintendent su-perintendent of tho Idaho division, both with headquarters in Pocatello, and 1. V, Oentsch, superintendent, of dining cars with headquarters In Ogden. Tho affair was a most delightful ono and indicativo of tho hearty co-opora-tion of all branches of the Oregon Short Dine. The banquet room was prettily decorated dec-orated and during the meal there was music, with singing by a quartette. The place cards at the banquet were In tho form of annual passes. Much of tho credit for the success of tho banquet belongs to the banquet committee, which was composed of C. .1- McNltt, C. I. Tuttle and G. II. Hobinson. .T. A. Kecvos. general freight agent, was toastmaster and Introduced each speaker In an original manner. The first toast. "Mr. Bancroft and Mr. Calvin." was responded to by George II. Smith, assistant attorney. Mr. Manson proposed a toast to Mr. Bancroft. Auditor C. J. McNItt spoke on "Why I Am an Auditor"; Aud-itor"; General Passenger Agent D. E. Buriey gave a toast to "Tho President of the United States"; Joel L.. Priest, Industrial In-dustrial agent at Boise, talked on "Idaho." Others who spoke were Dr. G. B. Pfoutz, D. S". Spencer, 'II. B. Stevenson Stev-enson and D. R. Gray. All the subjects were assigned late yesterday afternoon and the toasts were extemporaneous. Those present were: 12. ID.
