Show I GRANITE STUDENTS WILL HAVE CHANCE Por the First Time in History They May Aspire to Annapolis Academy. No candidate, for appointment to Annapolis An-napolis naval academy will be named bv tlic Granite high school at the present pres-ent time, but plenty of tune will be given giv-en to the students to prepare themselves for the position. This is something new to Granite and little consideration has boon given to the matler. Smith Murphy, a junior of Granite, was chosen to try for the exumi nations, but ho did not make good. He passed all the examinations except the medical. medi-cal. A number of seniors tried out for the plnce, but were not allowed' to tako the examinations, for various reasons which were withheld, by Principal A. S. Bcnnion of Granite. Before being allowed al-lowed to take any of these examinations the applicant must be a student of high standing and must be at least a junior with eight or inorc credits. .Murphy met nil these requirements. Never beforo has the Granite high school Ueoii given a chance to sond a representative. No candidate for Wost Point was allowed, as only schools giving giv-ing a complete course in military train ing nro permitted to send representatives. |
