Show SPECIAL EDUCATION COMMISSION NAMED WASHINGTON, Feb. 17 'President Wilson today appointed tho commission authorized by congress to investigate and report on vocational education. He named United States Senators Hoke Smith of Georgia and C. S. Paso of Vermont: Representatives D. M. Hughes, Georgia, and F. D. Foss. Ohio; C. A. Troffcr, secretary sec-retary National Society for the Promotion Promo-tion of Industrial Education, Now York; John Lapp, legislative reference ref-erence librarian, Indianapolis; C. IT. Winslow. department of labor, la-bor, "Washington: Miss Florence Marshall, principal Manhattan Trade school for Girls, New York City, and Miss Agnes Nestor. Chicago, formerly president of the International Glovemakcrs union. The bill authorising the creation of the commission provides that it shall consider con-sider the necessity of and roport a plan by December 1. or ns soon as practicable practica-ble thereafter, for national aid to vocational vo-cational education. An appropriation of 51G.000 Is made available by tho act to defray traveling expenses and Incidental costs of the proposed Investigation. Tho commission was advocated by the labor leaders In congress and its report is expecled to be made tho foundation of legislation. A commission named recently re-cently by the American Federation of Labor was Instructed to co-operate In ItH work with the federal commission. |
