Denver simply gathered In to Itself a branch office of tho Bureau of Mines, financed and maintained by tho said government appropriation, and what will occasion even more delight in Utah Is the fact that Utah Is Included within this division and Utah fields will be attended to by Denver men from the Denver office and at government expense. ex-pense. Why Utah was overlooked in this matter, mat-ter, and why Denver was given the preference In tho establishment of the first branch, when Utah is the hub of tho western mining world, Denver being the eastern rim, Is more than the local boosters can figure out. Denver sources of Information have It that part of Utah 1b now being given field work from the Denven office through tho efforts of Dr. Richard L. Moore Und Karl L. Klthll, physical chemist and mining technologist respectivelyoC the Denver headquarters. Tho mlnerescue work will be conducted from Denver. If the mine rescue car Is needed a telegram to Denvor will bring It to the scene of trouble. It evidently was overlooked that Salt Lake might havo afforded more speedy service for these rescuo cars, especially in tho western west-ern field, but Denver got tho plum. Many local mining men are real peeved about this, . but Denvor simply got to work early and landed before Salt Lake thought anything about It. |
