LONDON, May 2 Unionist members Of the house of commons are preparing to catechize the government regarding what they characterize as Embassador Bryces "treasonable act" In supporting the proposals made by President Taft in Ihe matter of Canadian reciprocity and as to whether the government purposes to recall the embassador. Arthur Shirley Benn Ifl anxious to know whether Mr Bryce was aware that the. object of reciprocity was to make 'anada. an "adjunct of the United States", if his acquiescence therein waa not treasonable, and whether. In view of the published correspondence between President Taft and Theodore Roosevelt, It was the intention of the government to recall the embassador. Questions also will be addressed to Premier Asquith, directing his attention to the letter on reciprocity written by President Taft to Theodore Roosevelt a year ago last January and recently made public, and suggesting the urgency of the police for Imperial preference to defeat American designs. Another question, of which notice has heen given, will ask whether the government, gov-ernment, was aware of President Taft's intention to make Canada "only an adjunct ad-junct of the T'nltei States." when the government. Instructed Embassador Bryce to assist the passage of the reciprocity agreement between the United States and Tnnada. An effort will be made to raise the whole Question on motion for an adjournment adjourn-ment Monday evening. |
