The ruling of tho state supremo court which announced yesterday that prosecutions prose-cutions for violations of liquor . laws, brought 'under statutes in effect prior to passage of the new state law nro invalid has aroused much interest throughout tho state. The clerk of the supremo court was deluged yesterday yester-day with requests from ninny portions of tho statu for copies of the court's decision, and many similar rcquosts aro expected today. The ruling of" the state's highest tribunal was no surprise to a maorit' of stato officials. A. ft. Barnes, attorney at-torney general of the state, points out that, tho decision does not affect ordinances ordi-nances passed in complianco with the provisions of the state law, and T, E. Willev, county attorney of Salt. Lako county, urges' that municipalities pass ordinances in conformity with tho now state law. This will gfve city authorities author-ities tho right to prosecute in tho courts violations of the state statute. |
