Show GUARDS KILL PATIENT IN IDAHO ASlLLirvi In Rescuing Guard They Injure In-jure Lunatic So- Badly He Dies Within Hour. Special to The Tribune. BLACKFOOT. Idaho, April 12. Violence Vio-lence exercised in restraint df a patient resulted In the death of James Fleming at the Insane asylum yesterday. Fleming Flem-ing was committed to Ihe asylum from Salmon City for violent insanity, resulting result-ing from epilepsy. Upon arrival at the asylum he was at once placed under restraint. In his fit of insanity he broke away from control. Being a man of large physlquo and great strength, acquired ac-quired through his trade as a blacksmith, he quickly overpowered his guard, who at. once realized lie was In a struggle for life. When assistance arrived the Insane man was over the prostrate guard, doing do-ing bis utmost to choke him to death. It required the combined efforts of five guards to regain control of the patient and strap him lo a bed. About an hour afterward ho was found dead. Tho Inquest conducted by Coroner E-T. E-T. Peck developed the fact that death resulted from hemorrhage of the liver. Dr. T. 71". Poole.
