Show EDWIN DOWDEN, AGED UTAH PIONEER, DIES KdwJri Dowden. aged 68 years, who crossed the plains to Utah with oxen fifty years ago. died at the home of bis son. Shirley W. Dowdcn. 100 Fast Fifth South street, last nfsrht. Mr- Dowdcn bad been an Invalid lor eight years. Horn In Sussex. ICngland. Mr. Dowden became a convert to the Mormon church In London in 1SU2 and emigrated lo Utah, arriving in Salt Luke valley In October of that year. He was marrcd to Miss Naomi Dcbutihain In ISfil and had twelve children, four of whom ar now living. They are Mrs. Don Curios Young. Mrs, G. W. Cushlng. Shirley W. Dowdcn and Charles F. Dowdcn. all living liv-ing in Salt Lake. The widow survives and also a sister. Mrs. Caroline Carter of New Zealand. Mr. Dowdcn was prominent In business busi-ness until eight years ago, when his! fulling health forced him to retire. For thirty years be was connected with the' C M. I. as manager of the retail dry j goods department, lie was secretary of! the Western Shoe & Dry Goods company for many years. The funeral will hi held Sunday at 2 p. m. rrom the Klghth ward chapel.
