HH With the incentive of a ttcadlly HH strengthening and broadening metal mar- HM ket, the producing companies of Butte HHj are bending every energy toward an In- HK creased output, and It is not unlikely that I HB before- the close of the year the Butte I H district will be producing approximately 1 SO.000,000 pounds of copper a mouth, says B a Bulte dispatch. In Hie mines of the- Anaconda Copper Alining company a great, amount of development de-velopment work is being done and new ore bodies are being blocked out In anticipation an-ticipation of increased .demand. Sinking lu the High Ore mine is being accompanied accompa-nied with splendid results and at a. depth, of 3200 feet there has been developed some of the richest ore yet mined in the camp. The shaft 1b being put down as rapidly as possible to the 3500-foot level, which will be the deepest In the district. PPPJj and from indications at a. depth of 3200 PPB feet where great lenses of copper glance PPPJ have been developed, it is -believed" that PPPJ! the Anaconda company will be in posi- PPPJl Hon to mine richer ore in greater quan- PPPJj tlty than ever before in its history. PPPJ The same Is true' of the Badger State, PPPJj mine, belonging to the Anaconda com- PpH! pany, which is finding the ore richer and PPPJ! in greater quantity as depth Is attained. PPpt The Badger State shaft is now down PpH; 2000 foot and copper glance is found to PpH1 predominate. At the Belmont mine splen- PpHf did progress is being made with the erec- PPK tlon of the steel ore bins, with capacity PpBt for holding C000 tons of ore, and these PpHj will be ready for use within the next PpH four or five weeks. Through the Belmont PpH shaft will be lifted all of the ore from PPPJ the Anaconda group of mines. The con- PpHj nectlng crosscuts have been electrified PpB for haulage, and the cost of mining will PPR by this means be materially decreased PpHj for this group of mines. The Belmont PPPJj shaft Is of four compartments and as It PpHi will be used for nothing but lifting ore, PpBj Its capacity will be more than equal to PPpt the capacity of the now ore bins. The PPpt next move will be to equip the Belmont PPB Jiolst for the use of compressed air In- PPPJ stead of steam and this will further re- pHK duce the cost, i PHH The Anaconda company Is steadily PPB proving the theory of secondary enrlch- PHB ment, and as some of the richest ores PpK are now 'being found below the 2000 foot pHH level, the increased value of the ore is PHH not only more than commensurate with pHB the cost of lifting from great dopth, but PHB the ore bodies are being found to be more PHH; extensive, thus prolonging the llfo of the I- mines. With the many economies which the company has Introduced, including compressed com-pressed air for 'hoisting, electric haulage, electric pumpage and utilization of the fopper Impregnated waters, the Anaconda Anacon-da company Js now producing copper well below 0 cents a pound. |
