Show AGED PIONEER DIES. Mrs. Alice Wood, One of Original Settlers of Huntsvllle, Is Called. Special to The Tribune. OGDEN, Sept. 31. The last survivor of the original seven families which composed com-posed the first settlement within a fort at Huntsvlllo In 1SG0 was claimed -by death last evening when Mrs. Alice Wood, aged 72 years, died at ihcr home In the Ogden valley town. The end came after a lingering lin-gering illness due to thc lnllrmltlcs of old age. Bom In 'Xeckelsficld. England, on November No-vember 3. 1S41. Mrs. Wood camo to America Amer-ica In 1S57. During tho same year she made the journey to Utah with a company com-pany of the early pioneers. The Wood family, together with six other families, which made the trip to Utah at the samo time, constructed tho fort and established the first settlement at Huntsvllle. She resided there throughout her life. Mrs. Wood Is survived by the following four sons and live daughters: C. S-, F. W., and B. S. Wood, of Huntsvllle; Joseph Wood, of Cache county: Mrs. Alice Mof-fett, Mof-fett, View, Ida.. Mrs. Sarah Madsen and Mrs. Moslelle Mlsener. American Fork,-Mrs. Fork,-Mrs. Laura McCarthy. Salt Lake City, and Mrs Chloe Doxey, of Blackfoot. Idaho. There arc also surviving 52 grandchildren and It! great-grandchildren. The funeral will be held on Monday afternoon aft-ernoon with services In charge of Bishop John Halls in the Huntsvllle chapel at 2 o'clock. The Interment will be made in tho Huntsvllle cemetery. Friends may view the 'body at thc family home from 9 a. m. until 1 p. m. on Monday. |
