Show TO ELIMINATE NOISE. Nevada Man'6 Invention Alleged to Make Typewriter Soundless. Special to The Tribune. OGD15N, Sept. 21. As the result of negotiations which were opened in this city yesterday, a final agreement will be signed in Salt Lake tomorrow for leasing the patent on a noiseless typewriter, type-writer, the Invention of J. F. O'Byrnc. a mining engineer of .Tarbldge, Ne-v. The patent is to be taken over by thc Frank B. Powers Automatic Machine company of Springfield, Mass., Mr. Powers arriving arriv-ing here yesterday to close the deal with the Inventor. Mr. O'Byrno in a brother of W. II. O'Byrne. a member of the Ogden Og-den high school faculty. Although the basic patents for Mr. O'Byrne's invcjitlon were granted about five months ago, the improvements which make the economic manufacture of the-device the-device possible have Just been perfected. The Invention takes tho form of a vacuum chamber. In which the working portions of the machine operate, and thus eliminating the noise which results from tho mechanism. While the device can be applied to any small machine, Its greatest value is said to result from Its application to tho typewriter. According to the inventor it will be possible to place in one room any number num-ber of typewriters equipped with the silencing device, and tho operation of the machines will cause no interruptlbn or Inconvenience because of noise. It is contended lhat the latest developments develop-ments will make It possible to equip any typewriter with the device at a nominal cost. |
