I I Mil TO REPEAT ' ' GARNIVAL OF WIZARD it J Success Attained at the Re- j cent Celebration Encour- i j - ages Promoters. B' REDMAN GIVES VIEWS 5ji Believes Annual Affair Will if1 Mean Much to the City and State. . The public of Salt Lake will be asked HLlH to dec,flc whether there shall be an- j other carnival next summer, according t il to B. F. Redman, president of the Wards Hjf1 j? of the Wizard of the Wasatch. The jiMf" executive committee believes that the I IB carnival proved to be a :,-ood thins lor 1 Salt Lake, both from the standpoint or 14 iji the business It brought and the adver-H adver-H it V tlslriK that resulted. And one who was H U W on l,,e downtown streets either Friday or Hili'la Saturday night could hardly deny that r' 15 there were thousands who seemed to M.l-W have had a lot of fun out of the affair. W In commenting on the affair last night. H h Mr. Redman said: H a- U ' We believe that we have demon- : t strated that such a carnival annually I J -Ik can be made a big thlm? for Salt. HI'lV Lake. There arc those who say that H-j.:l this one didn't amount to much !- &! that It was nothing compared to the j Jr-f celebrations that are held in fonie j J-;, 2 cities. That Is true. But tho-:e same fl L', people should remamb-ir that this was .j,; p our first and we had a lot to learn. I Was an Experiment. I Furthermore, the carnival was an Bk; ' experiment, and because It was, there ; 8 ' . were many who wouldn't support us H '.'' In our efforts. But we have learned n; '1 many tilings and feel that next year '". we could give a carnival that would Hh? S be a far greater success thttn this one. H Although we have not had time to I 3 :h check up on our accounts yet, I be- P 3 Here an audit will show a deficit of ;: about S1000. However, we hope that by collecting all outstanding bills and I J pledges to break about even. When 1 , we settle these accounts, which we I , hope to do iy the last of the wcl-1:. J., wo will issue a financl.il statement. tu '& Then we propose lo ask the public i whether they will support uh If we I 'Hi prepare for a bigger and better cole-H cole-H J! '. bratlon next year. If we find we have the support we want we are m willing to start right in and put on a j j 1 j1 festival next year that will cnmpai'o favorably with any such affair in any ','; city In the United States. 'i f Have Proved Valuable. il i Such carnivals have proved valuable fin elsewhere, and we believe an annual visit of the Wizard of the Whsatch i-'tl '.'an be made a good thing for Salt I' Lake. If the people want it, we will I J P" proceed at once to reorganize and hi 'j- be?ln work on next year's carnival. f I want to thank everyone who has jSIr helped to make the affair a success. l5 I want to thank tilts police department ?f. of the city especially for the able I manner in which they assisted us In l' making the parades successful and , . their general handling of the crowds. 'I ', It could not have been done better, j 1 I also want to thank Lieutenant Col- I, y onel Perkins of Fort Douglas and ' the other officers for the particlpa- S .j.' Hon of the Twentieth In the parade v Friday, and also all others wlio helped I ;jt to make the pageants displays that L jjl we can be proud of. i Officials Praised. If Wlille Mr. Redman was too modest to i'Vjjt say anything about the work that he i'T5 and the members of the Wards of the i!" , , "Wizard executive committer did. there T v " have been numerous comments on the k ; excellent showing made with the rote ro-te :j sources available. The committee worked y 1 almost unceasingly and without one tent of remuneration, the paid employees be-u be-u it Ing reduced to a minimum. The members i! of the committee besides Mr Kedman j'.
