Sullivan of the American Olympic games committee said today that Amerlcn would withdraw from the Olympic sum en if England Introduces professionalism into the Olympic struggle. He expressed doubts as to the exact line to be made of the funds now bolng raised In England. Eng-land. He said that If men were going to be sysremHtlcJilly taken from employment In order to train hard for the Olympic games It was flagrant professionalism. On the other hand, If England Intends to employ money improving athletic equipment by giving boys encouragement to train on their own Initiative, that would be all right. Ho added that America Amer-ica maintains amateur athletics In the purest f6rm and does not spend a cent on competitors, except to pay their fares. |
