Show MUNICIPAL LEAGUE IN POLITICAL GAME Will Stand Behind Two Candidates for City Commissioner; S. H. Love to Be One. Allen T. Sanford was chosen president of tho Municipjil Ownership league at a meeting held in the Commercial club last night. Tho cholco was made unanimous despite the remonstrance of Mr. Sanford that there were others present more fitted for the office. After the election it was decided that the leaguo should select two men as candidates for the office of city commissioner, either from the list already nominated or from those who would accept nominations, who would be official standard bearers for the league. Numerous nominations were made and Stephen IT. Love was elected on the first ballot. Tt was then decided that tho meeting should adjourn to 8 o'clock Thursday evening, when the other candidate should be chosen. Reports of various committees were heard and there was an abundance of discussion and redlBcussion on every phase of everything suggested. It developed de-veloped that evory man interviewed regarding re-garding the subject had expressed a partial par-tial feeling toward municipal ownership of public utilities and. as one of the speakers said, it was hard to take a decided de-cided stand with no opposition. Other officers of tho permanent organization organ-ization elected last night were: George Alder, first vice president; W. H. ICorns, second vice president; George N, Lawrence, Law-rence, third .vico president, C. L. Rood, secretary, and Mrs. W. F. Adams, president presi-dent of the Ladies Literary club, treasurer. treas-urer. The officers, with A, Fred Wey, Fred A. Sweet. Culbert L. Olson, John Dern, A. V. Taylor. John J. Daly, August Au-gust IT. Vogoler, Edward Rosonbaum and George M. Sullivan, form the executive execu-tive commltteo of the organization. |
