Show PLANS FOR BIG DAMS ARE IMP LETE Another Step Taken in Re. gard to Impounding Canyon Can-yon Lake Waters. Completed plans for tho construction construc-tion of dams at the outlet of Lake Phoobo, at tho head of Bic Cottonwood Cotton-wood canyon, and the impounding o the waters of that lako and Lako Mary, were finished by the city en-Ciueerinjj; en-Ciueerinjj; department yesterday, and will be submitted to the state engineer in the next few days for final approval, Tho citv havinc secured the dam sites by special act of congress it is necessary neces-sary that tho state engineer shall pass upon the plans. With this supply in reserve tho citv would be free from any danger of water shortage luring tho winter months, such as occurred oc-curred last January. About $5000 preliminary work was done on tho project last year. Weirs for measuring the spring and winter flow from the lakes were installed last year and the mi-asiireincnts will be taken by the engineoriufr departmont in tho near future. If these measurements bear out the estimates of the engineer the last doubt as to the feasibility of the project will have been removed and it will be laid before the city commission commis-sion for approval. |
